KAMER Foundation was founded in 1997 in Diyarbakır, Turkey. The foundation works to overcome violence against women and to contribute to the increase in the number of empowered women who actively participate in society towards the establishment of a society where gender equality, the norms of human rights and peace, and a nature-friendly economy are achieved. It identifies the harmful practices of the sexist system against women and children, which are embedded in local cultures and traditions, and works to develop applicable alternatives. Working in 23 different provinces in Eastern and South-eastern Anatolia, KAMER Foundation has currently 20 active branches in the region.
